Rockstar Triathlete Lorri Bolander

Rockstar Triathlete Lorri Bolander

Coaches Notes:

Lorri is a true Rockstar Triathlete! Although she lives in Key West and is not local to Miami and cannot attend the weekly training sessions- she shows up every week in her training and on the coach calls, asks questions, and works the program the way it was designed to achieve some great results over the past few months! She questioned almost everything we gave her and I LOVE working with this type of athlete that wants to know the why and is willing to do the work and trust the process and ultimately see and feel the results! This takes courage and bravery to do!

So incredibly proud of you, Lorri, and super excited for the next journey to the full Florida Ironman in 2024! Let’s do this!!!!

What is your age?

48

What is your profession?:

Hair stylist and makeup artist

Why did you choose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?

I had a lot of experience from racing on and off for the last 13 years, but I knew I had so much to learn.
Basic coaching, nutritional information, and basic schedule planning were not enough for my goals in this sport.  I randomly came across FCC on Facebook, and they checked all the boxes on everything I wanted from a coach.

What is/ was your “A” race for this season?

It was the Miamiman 70.3, 2023- I just completed.  My next A race will be next November for the Florida Full Ironman.

What are your BIG goals?

My Big goals are to lean out more as I keep working on my nutritional program,  work on and conquer better breathing techniques especially in the run and work on my power and speed on the bike.

Tell me about your successes so far!

My successes so far for swimming is I was able to rehab my shoulder through swimming.  I worked on my form with the advice I received and took time off my 100 yard swim and got down to 20 strokes per length of pool.  On the bike I learned about cadence and how to maintain at least 80 which i never did before. I truly understand my gears and when to switch to higher or lower gears. On the run I learned how to run with prope form and added some speed. All of these things were huge successes to me because when I put it all together it made my racing come together so much better.

What were some of your biggest improvements in performance for each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health.

SWIM: My biggest improvement for the swim was getting the video analysis and learning better technique and breathing skills which in turn gave me a new PR in my race.

Bike: The biggest improvement on the bike was learning not to push heavy, hard gears while racing and tiring out my legs but using higher cadence. I was over using my legs so much, I had nothing left for the run.
That is not the case anymore.  On the run at Miamiman, I was able to run the last 6 miles faster than ever after a windy bike and I got 1st place in my age group.

Run: I can finally heart rate train! I always had a difficult time with that type of training and sticking with it long enough to see the results…My body is adjusting to this type of training, and I feel like my run is only getting better and better.
I feel stronger in all three sports over all.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:

  1. The attention to what I personally need to make my goals achievable.
  2. Being able to talk and listen to others about any and all issues with training and racing during the weekly Zoom calls and the ability to text the coaches with my questions.
  3. The nutrition program opened my eyes to train like an athlete and eat like one. I’m learning why I eat what I eat. The results are amazing I lost 13 lbs!

What excites you the most about being involved in running/triathlon?

Achieving goals I never thought I could definitely excites me but there is more than just that.

I love being strong! Mentally and Physically. And most of all, I love the triathlon community. Nothing is better than talking shop with other athletes that “get” you and why we do what we do.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?

Everyone could use a coach. In fact, Olympians and all professional athletes have coaches. Trusting the coaching and the program is important and not easy to find. Full CIrcle Coaching has the knowledge and experience that we all deserve to know but just don’t typically know how to access it or who to trust enough to ask and get the correct information.

Learning is never-ending, and If you want to be part of a community that is driven to excel at training and racing and gives you the VIP attention and support you desire and deserve, look no further than FCC.
