Mary Liz Olazabal Rockstar Triathlete

Mary Liz Olazabal Rockstar Triathlete

Coach’s Notes: When Mary Liz first started she was in chronic pain in her foot, so we made the call to stop running all together, instead of pushing through as so many athletes do!

This was a tough call because she loved running and did not want to stop.

I’m a big believer that pain can be your teacher, but you have to actually listen!! After 2 years of physical therapy, skills and drills and only training and racing the swim and bike- Mary Liz is now a triathlete again!

So happy she took the time to let the body heal and can do what she loves. She is a huge inspiration as one of our fastest short course female triathletes.

She earned 2nd place podium at the Clash Sprint race last month- Way to go Mary Liz.

Short course triathletes MATTER!!! You are a true Rockstar Triathlete.

Age: 54

Profession: 5th Grade Teacher

Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey? I had done some triathlon training with a friend and competed in some sprint triathlons. Then I joined friends who trained with Erinne for their first triathlon. The great people at Full Circle have kept me hooked ever since.

What is your “A” race for this season? I don’t have an A race. I’m just trying to get stronger and more proficient at the skills within each discipline so that I can go from seeing a race as an accomplishment to something that’s fun.

Please share your BIG goals: I’d like to figure out how to swim correctly. I have age old bad habits that I am still trying to kick. I’d like to become a better and more comfortable swimmer. I’d also like to gain strength on the bike. I recently, finally,  bought a tri – bike, so I’m still getting used to it. I have a big bike vacation coming up this summer with lots of hills. Gaining strength over the next few months will be a big help.

Tell me about your successes so far:

In December I raced my first sprint since starting with Full Circle. I have been suffering from tendonitis in my foot for 3 years. Weekly PT and focusing on the aquabike became my thing. I didn’t feel much like a triathlete without the third leg of the triathlon. So, I was thrilled to finally participate in a “real” triathlon. My best part was the run. I ran it in under 25 minutes, which was a first for me for a 5k. This week I participated in the Clash Sprint distance. I didn’t freak out in the swim and the bike was really comfortable. That’s a big improvement for me. I actually enjoyed it in real time. Rather than feeling a sense of accomplishment afterwards, I actually found joy in the swimming and riding. The run was hot and still felt like work. I was glad when that part was over!

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:

Swim – I still have a lot to learn, but I’m able to control the panic I feel at the start of the race. I’ve learned to talk to myself, build my speed gradually, and sight more often to stay on course.

Bike – I am working on being strong through the whole pedal stroke, pulling and pushing. My speed in races keeps getting faster. I know that is not a great barometer to use. I need to focus on the metrics and learn to use my power meters and heart rate which would give me a much better measure to go by.

Run – I spent so long not running and then running with no acceleration, that I’ve had time to work on my form (fast feet, squeeze the glutes and try to keep my hips forward and lean forward). It’s really helped me lower the pain and make me somewhat faster.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:

1.Reframing the morning workout as a gift I give myself helps me be more consistent about getting up at 5am.

2.Seeking the joy in triathlon, rather than a podium finish, has helped with the panic I feel before the swim.

3.Creating new healthier rituals in terms of nutrition has helped my sugar cravings.

4.Finding a sleep routine that works for me (Including a series of leg/hip exercises for sciatic pain and meditation) has been a game changer.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

First, it’s truly a way to get comfortable with the uncomfortable and I believe that’s critical as we get older. We cannot control the world around us, we can only control how we react. So, putting ourselves in uncomfortable situations gives us a chance to practice.

There’s always more to learn and ways to grow in this sport. I’ve never spent too much time thinking about biking and there’s a lot I’d like to learn so that I can become stronger and enjoy it more.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?

If someone were on the fence I would let them know that Full Circle is so much more than just the swim, bike and run. It’s about people, a positive lifestyle, and creating a better you.

Coach’s Notes: Vlad and I reconnected after he decided to do an Ironman. We pretty much started from scratch following the Full Circle approach; which is training skill building, strength and speed BEFORE volume and it’s working like a charm.

He shows up daily to do the work and follows the plan, trusting the results would come, despite questioning the tactics at first. I’m so proud of your first of many podiums!

There is so much to learn in the sport of triathlon, but simply following the program gets you the results and maybe even better results than you thought were possible.

I’m so excited to be on this journey with you. Thanks for choosing Full Circle Coaching. I can’t wait to see you at the finish line of IM Florida!

Research Assistant

Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?
I had previously belonged to another group that was not helping me reach my potential. I did some research and found Full Circle Coaching. I needed a group that was structured and disciplined.

What is your “A” race for this season?

I am training for my first full triathlon, the Florida Ironman in November 2022. I’m doing two half Ironman races on my way to the full.

Please share your BIG goals: Complete a full Ironman for my 40th birthday. Improve my speed in all areas.

Tell me about your successes so far: Making my first podium ever!

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:
Swim:
I’ve improved my stamina. At first, I was having difficulty completing a short triathlon.
Now, I can swim 1 mile plus. The next improvement for me is speed, with which the coaches are helping me.

Bike: Power! The drills that help me use power to increase my speed.

Run: My form — when I started with FCC my pace was 11 min/mile, now I am at 8:30 min/mile. It’s all thanks to form corrections that my coaches have given me.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:
1. Nutrition
2. Consistency (showing up)
3. Comaraderie

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?
Seeing results when you’re fully committed to something. You’re competing with yourself to prove that you can succeed in a challenge.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?
That it not only improves your physical health but also your mental health. It changes your lifestyle for the better. You become a member of a community that supports and celebrates your goals.

Coach’s Notes: Congratulations Claudia on your first race ever, the Miami 13.1 Half Marathon. Way to show up and trusting the process. Resting when your body needed and doing the training so consistently. The results speak for themselves and I wish I had a recording when you shared how proud you were! So Awesome! Can’t wait to see what’s next, I heard you have a bike… Maybe a triathlon??? I can only hope!!

Age: 50

Profession: Independent Consultant in the Hospitality & Retail Industries

Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey? I was considering training for a half marathon last year and Enrique (my fiance’ who trains with Erinne) asked me why not joining FCC. I participated in the Run Essentials workshop at Footworks in September 2021, liked it and decided to go for it.

What is your “A” race for this season? My A race was the Miami Half Marathon in February 2022- my FIRST race ever !!! Right now I haven’t decided what’s next.

Please share your BIG goals: After my good experience with the Half Marathon, I’m clear that I want to keep running and probably do a couple more races during this year.

Tell me about your successes so far: After I started training with FCC, I realized I could run longer distances if I continue to improve my technique, which helped me to accomplish my goal to finish the race. Now I feel stronger and more confident to try other things.

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:

I clearly improved my technique and strength during the preparation for the race. Now I can run faster and longer than ever before. Even my nutrition improved.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:

  1. Training with a program/coach
  2. Training with the FC Tribe
  3. Discipline to follow the process

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

I am not ready for triathlon yet, but definitively I am ready to continue running.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?
JUST DO IT, you will not regret. Training with a team is a great experience, your body will appreciate it too!!!!

Coach’s Notes: Only 3 months in and already seeing improvement. I’m so excited about this journey we’re on together. 1st place podium Sprint Triathlon Age Group and a 1:35 PR – half marathon a week later.

Thanks for trusting the process and ALL the changes we’ve made. They will add up to great results, even if there are some setbacks. Everyone knows the road to Ironman is never straight up. But I am so confident in the foundation we are laying.

Your skills are improving in each discipline and speed and strength have been the focus before adding on the volume that can lead to so much fatigue if we’re not paying attention to lifestyle and nutrition. Congrats on all the success so far, but this is just the beginning! Woohoo!

Age: 44

Profession: Photographer

Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?

I was looking for a coach, spoke to several people but nobody really inspired me to work with them until I met Erinne during the Miami Man in November, 2021.

I totally recognized myself in her speech, my weaknesses especially. So we had a meeting over the phone to discuss my target, what I wanted to improve, and what I was doing currently. On top of that, we discussed nutrition which is one of the keys to success. At this time, I had one more race to do before end of season; a Half Ironman 70.3 in Haines City. I was  super excited and decided to start my journey with Erinne.

What is your “A” race for this season?

My “A” race for this season is in August for the Ironman Juno, in Alaska. I am also doing Ironman St. George in Utah, as a challenge.

Please share your BIG goals:

Well my ultimate  dream goal is to qualify for Kona, the world championships in Hawaii. I want to run a marathon in 3h30 and maybe who knows a podium in Ironman or 70.3 distances, those are really high goals but that’s what motivates me every day to train hard (like an animal lol)!

Tell me about your successes so far:

At first, I started running to quit smoking… lol. I ran a couple half marathons and twice, the Miami marathon. I started triathlon in May, last year by a 70.3 in Sebring and finished in 5h13 after in nice panic attack during the swim, because I had never swum open water before (a rookie mistake) but ended with a qualification for Team USA for the world championships in Almere, Netherland.

I trained really hard for the next 3-4 months; as a photographer I went to Tokyo for the Olympics for two weeks, and I could not stop training so I brought my bike and home trainer with me and set it up in my super tiny bedroom. I biked every morning before going to work. Then I found out two weeks before the race that it was a long distance full ironman not a 70.3. I almost passed out in front of my computer. Anyway, I trained crazy for it and decided to go and do my best. I finished in 11h03 with a 3h40 on the run, I could not believe it, crossing the finish line was orgasmic 🙂

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:

Swim: I did not start as a good swimmer but after my first session with Erinne, it took me 3-4 sessions to lower my 100m pace time by 10 seconds I was simply amazed.

*I did not start as a good swimmer but after 3-4 sessions with Erinne, I lowered my 100m pace time by 10 seconds. I was simply amazed!

*Bike: I am stronger on the bike with a lower heart rate and higher FTP (Functional Threshold Power) and of course I gained on speed as well, but now training or racing I am more focused on my power, HR, cadence, I understand that speed is not always in my control.

*Run: The first run evaluation session was pretty fun and epic. At 44 years old, I realized that I didn’t know how to run properly, for maximum performance. She asked me to change my running shoes, from Hoka to Altra, which was a big change for me not so easy at the beginning, but I have to admit now that I really like it because combine with the training it made me PR my half marathon to 1h35 last weekend in Miami at the 305 13.1 🙂

I also learned about the posture and training zones and when I think about it, every time I train I feel that I’m improving.

I feel that I’ve already improved a lot in the three disciplines; I won my age group sprint distance two weeks ago, but for the first time I was so fast in every discipline.

I’m also way more focused on what I put in my mouth since I started the nutrition program and I have to say the quality of fuel you ingest makes a pretty big difference on the way you feel through the day and training. I know there is so much more to learn.

Also, I changed my nutrition plan for my last 70.3, and I crossed the finish line not totally depleted and felt much better during the race.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:
1. Getting a training plan structure, adapted to my level
2. Understanding the what and why of my training and how we have to put it together to get better
3. Less beer, more sleep 🙂

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

First, being part of a group / community is so much better to progress as it’s such an individual sport. Then challenging myself, and racing of course !!!

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?

Don’t be a pussy, just do it!!! It’s so good! That’s exactly what I would say.

I was training with a friend in France last summer, basically we were doing mostly the opposite of what I’m doing now and the results are here to show that it works if you work.

I mean the Training Peaks is perfect, the group calls are really good because you learn from the others and you can exchange and I am really excited about the nutrition program.

The training program is really complete so, you are going to improve. Plus, the coaches are pretty sexy 🙂

Thanks a lot already to all of you for making me a better athlete and sleeping so well at night!

Rockstar Triathlete Veronica Chevresst

Rockstar Triathlete Veronica Chevresst

Coach’s Notes: Veronica joined my Online Beginner Triathlon Finish line Program to get ready for the December 2021, Mighty Mujer Triathlon. She was a total newbie. She did most of her training on her own, but was able to join our weekly zoom calls and an occasional brick on Saturday. I helped her get a road bike that fit her properly and learn the basics of the sport. Her dedication to learning how to perform the swim, bike and run BETTER, helped her succeed with flying colors across the finish line. I actually had to hold her back from over training because she began to feel pain and I did not want her to get injured. She quickly learned that her that form and frequency is more important as a beginner, than speed and volume.

Congratulations Veronica you are a true Rockstar Triathlete! Can’t wait to see what’s next for you!

Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey? I chose FCC, as they were (and still are) a positive, supportive, and very knowledgeable team.

What is your “A” race for this season? Mighty Mujer Sprint Triathlon.

Please share your BIG goals: My BIG goal is to complete the NYC Triathlon by next year:)

Tell me about your successes so far:

I had been wanting to do a Triathlon for the past ten years but was intimidated by the swim portion of a race, since I really didn’t know how to swim. So, with a super push from a friend, and during the pandemic in 2020, I had decided to take a basic swimming class at a local YMCA. I enjoyed swimming so much that it was then that I thought completing a TRI could be a real thing for me.

Then I joined the beginner triathlon program in the Fall os 2021. In a matter of weeks, I went from being unable to swim one full lap without stopping to TRI training six days a week, to confidently completing all three legs of the Mighty Mujer Sprint Triathlon race in December 2021. I did it! I became a TRIATHLETE:-)

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:

Swim: Being able to comfortably swim 1700 yards or more.

Bike: Increasing my cycling mileage from five to twelve miles easily.

Run: Transitioning off of the bike to run a mile comfortably.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:

  1. Training with a positive group of athletes that encouraged and shared helpful information with me.
  2. Having a training plan.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

What excites me most is that I get to experience a transformation of my mind, body and spirit with every stroke, pedal, and stride. I feel like a stronger person overall when I am TRI-ing.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program? You CAN do it-ya just have to follow a plan and do the work.

Rockstar Triathlete Ben Carter

Rockstar Triathlete Ben Carter

Coach’s Notes: Ben is a person that takes the information given to him and directly applies it and reaches the desired outcome. He has a busy life as a husband, dog dad and lawyer. I never once heard an excuse come out of his mouth for not hitting the training and his results speak for themselves.

He was already a short course triathlete for a few years, so we evaluated his form in the swim, and run and dialed in his bike fit. Then checked out his nutrition to be sure he had the fueling necessary to achieve the goal of going longer for his first 70.3. This is all part of the Triathlon Transformation program.

Of course, I asked him to get in at least one, short course distance triathlon and yes he killed it! Getting 1st place on the podium for the first time in a sprint. And then pushing hard on the Miami Man International Triathlon- Fast before Far.

I knew he would be ready to achieve his goal at 70.3 and he hit his goal time almost to the minute! Ironman Florida 70.3 in Haines City , 5:30:51! Pretty awesome for his first 70.3 ever.

Way to go Ben! Looking forward to an even more EPIC 2022-
You are a Rockstar Triathlete!

Age: 36

Profession: Attorney

Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?

I had heard Coach Erinne speak at pre-race briefings for a few local races, and had been getting her emails for a while, so I knew she really knew what she was talking about.

So it was only natural that she came to mind when I decided to get more serious about training and start working with a coach.

But what sold me was the personal attention and the holistic approach to training, going beyond simply what workouts to do and when, to personalized feedback and tips, video analysis, bike fitting, nutrition planning, training-life balance, etc.

And, it helped that everyone was super friendly when I came to my first few group workouts during my trial!

What is your “A” race for this season? It was the Ironman 70.3 in Haines City on December 12, 2021. When I pulled the trigger and signed up for the race, I knew I needed to find some help to get me there, not just able to finish the race, but able to push myself and meet my goal time.

I had completed a handful of sprint and international distance races, but knew I wanted to go longer and really challenge myself. And I definitely found that in the 70.3 distance.

It was more challenging than any other race I’ve done, including full marathons, but thanks to the support and guidance I’ve gotten from Full Circle I was able to finish in my goal time of five and a half hours.

For 2022 my A-race will probably be the Miami Man 70.3.

Please share your BIG goals:
(1) complete one 70.3 distance race each year;
(2) get on the podium in an international distance triathlon;
(3) run a half marathon in under 1:40.

Tell me about your successes so far:
In terms of performances – Finishing my first 70.3 race and knowing I left it all out on the course;

Winning my age group and being on the podium for the first time at the Bill Bone Tropical Triathlon in October;

Running a personal best 10k to finish the Miami Man international triathlon in November.

But more generally, the big success has been committing to the training, making the necessary lifestyle changes to align with my goals, and sticking with it when I felt my focus and motivation slipping.

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:

For swimming, my biggest improvement has been in my form. I swam competitively from a very young age through high school, so I was already comfortable in the water, but my form had gotten a little sloppy. The coaches helped me clean that up, and I’ve also become much more comfortable and proficient at open water swimming.

On the bike, the biggest improvement has been the ability to go longer at higher power. I’ve never been faster.

On the run it has been both form and speed. The coaches helped me identify some flaws in my form, and while I’m still working on correcting them, my run fitness has never been better.

Nutrition is an area I need to focus more on going forward, but I’ve learned a lot about how to use supplements to my advantage, and be more strategic with my race nutrition.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:

  1. The guidance and support from the Full Circle Coaches and encouragement from my fellow FC athletes
  2. The accountability of group training
  3. Remembering and visualizing my goals when I need some motivation

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?
The challenge of combining three disciplines into one event.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?

Whether you are a seasoned triathlete or a beginner you can find a home here. Everyone is welcoming and supportive, and truly cares about helping you improve and achieve your goals.

The coaches will guide you and challenge you, whatever your skill level, and the other athletes will encourage you. And the more you put in, the more you will get out of it!

Rockstar Triathlete Christopher Boykin

Rockstar Triathlete Christopher Boykin

Coach’s Notes: I am so incredibly proud of Christopher because he has busted through a more than year long case of limiting beliefs that has kept him stuck.

I asked him not to be focused on the outcome and simply follow the darn instructions, and show up for himself consistently over the next few months and we will get him across the finish line at Ironmman Florida, 2021.

He also joined my nutrition essentials program. And you can see from his before and after images below he is now 51 lbs lighter, after his own hard work and some additional tips from me.

The main goal as he writes below was not the race- but to improve quality of life and feel good in his body again.

The race was a struggle due to some tough cold windy conditions and he most definitely finished in 17+ hours and I so appreciate that he did not stop until he did the distance- BUT who cares, because the ultimate goal was realized- he did the distance of a full Ironman.

Now, He is back in his body again. In a place of feeling amazing and giving back. His energy and spunk are on high voltage.

So happy you are back Christopher- cannot wait to see what 2022 brings for you- You are definitely a Rock Star Triathlete!

Age: 49 (going on 17)

Profession: Executive Director of Pelican Harbor Seabird Station (Miami’s Native Wildlife Hospital)

Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey? Because Erinne is “the bomb”. I’ve known and seen her at races and out training since 2007 and I was always drawn to her warm, positive energy.

What is/was your “A” race for this season? Ironman Florida 2021

Please share your BIG goals: My BIG goals are to increase my fitness, vitality and quality of life by decreasing my BMI to under 25%, increasing my VO2 Max to the Good/Excellent range, move from a Clydesdale to an age grouper and finish in the top 25% of my races.

Tell me about your successes so far:

I completed 44 triathlons between 2007 to present with eight sprints and *Ironman Florida this year. I completed the New York, Chicago & San Diego marathons and four Ironmans with 13:36 being my fastest IM.

This summer I was the Clydesdale 40+ Division Champion at the Key Biscayne Trilogy Sprint Series.

*I assume that some people thought I was crazy for taking on IM FL with only two months of training and for going long before I was strong. It was part of my weight loss journey and I wanted/needed the challenge. My prior coach through Garmin/Training Peaks had discouraged me from attempting it. I appreciate Erinne’s support of this decision.

What were some of your biggest improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim: Bike: Run: Nutrition/Health: Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:
My VO2 max increased 4 points in just two months of training with Full Circle and the speed work at the track, pool and intervals on the bike helped so much.
My body has started to feel great again (like a machine) that is fun to be in and I didn’t know if that would ever be possible for me again.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:

  1. Coach Erinne’s knowledge and positive loving support
  2. The amazingly friendly and wonderful athletes and coaches of Full Circle Coaching who have made getting up early fun again.
  3. A great and oh so comfy bike fit by Coach Dennis and Perfect Aminos

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

As a biologist/nature person I love being outside, the mornings and everything about triathlon. I have an obsessive personality and could become obsessed with digging ditches, but triathlon is so much more fun.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?
Do it! You deserve it and will not regret it. Money comes and goes, but the best gift we can give ourselves and families is our own health so we can show up fully.

Rockstar Triathlete Frantz Dunel

Rockstar Triathlete Frantz Dunel

Coach’s Notes:  When Frantz joined Full Circle Coaching as a part of my Triathlon Transformation Program 5 months ago, he told me he wanted to become a Rockstar Triathlete.

Well, the time is here, and he truly personifies everything a Rockstar triathlete is.
The road was a little bumpy on his journey to the start line of the Key West Sprint Triathlon, but Frantz set the intention and showed up at practice or did the work on his own and followed the training plan.
He is a husband and father to 2 young children, and has a brand-new company, so the struggle to fit time in to train was real.  But he did it and hit some pretty awesome achievements like:
  • He QUIT Vaping
  • Running a sub 20 min 5k and
  • 3rd place podium at his first sprint triathlon in Key West.
Way to go Frantz… I’m super proud of the triathlete you have become.  Can’t wait to see what’s next!

Age: 36

Profession: President of an Ocean Shipping & Logistics Company- Maritime Industry. Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey? FC came highly recommended from a friend of mine Raul Boesel, who is an experienced ultra marathoner.

What is your “A” race for this season? KW Sprint Triathlon was my “A” race as recommended by Coach Erinne.

Please share your BIG goals: My BIG goals continue to change as I progress however, I always want to be the best husband, father, friend, colleague and of course athlete I can possibly be. Training hard and always working towards my next goal positively affects every facet of life.

Tell me about your successes so far: When I started with FC a few months ago I had doubts on a target race being only 3 months away since I had zero triathlon experience and my swim was below average

This past weekend I completed my first triathlon and far exceeded all my expectations and target times. I truly felt prepared and knew exactly what to expect because of Full Circle!

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, and Nutrition/Health. Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved: My biggest improvement HAS to be in the swim. Although I thought I could swim, apparently I really couldn’t swim more than leisurely “swimming” when jumping off a boat or wading in a pool. On day 1, around Sept 2021,in my swim test I could barely “swim” one lap of a pool without being completely exhausted.  Fast forward to Dec 4, 2021, I just completed my first sprint triathlon and even passed other swimmers in that portion!  My run technique, cadence and stride has also improved which has prevented me from injury.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:
1. The commitment/dedication of FC coaches and the FC tribe of athletes is truly contagious and inspiring.

2. The vast knowledge and experience that is willingly shared without hesitation. The FC culture is one where everyone is always willing to root for each other and lend a helping hand which is critical as newer members are learning and growing

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon? The sheer feeling of accomplishing goals that were thought to be unlikely or not possible. Sport and competition which can be done for years to come.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program? Just give it a try, I can assure you that you will surprise yourself. Coaching gives you the push, support and guidance needed to achieve your goals.

Rockstar Triathlete Rosa King

Rockstar Triathlete Rosa King

Coach’s Notes: Rosa has had an amazing year. I love when triathletes who have been training and racing with no real structure come to me.

They already have the drive to do the work, but really aren’t seeing the true results of their potential. We start assessing, testing and form correcting and WHAM- they podium. never thinking this is even possible. Rosa is a perfect example of this. She is a strong woman, mother, wife and loves her work.

She was just focusing on the volume of the races she was training for.

By assessing and correcting form , testing and using training zones and actually paying attention to doing intervals to get faster she has podiumed in every race since we started this year! What a Rockstar!!!! Way to go Rosa! so excited about 2022 and your Ironman Alaska race!

Age:49

Profession
Pharmacist, COVID vaccine immunizer Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey? I have worked with Erinne for the past 19 years.  She helped train me for my 3rd Marathon (Disney) in 2002 and my first Ironman in 2004 (Great Floridian).  I was successful in both of these races.  I moved to Georgia for 12 years and when I returned back to Miami, I reconnected with Erinne right away because she’s a proven winner. What is your “A” race for this season?
Miami Man Half Ironman (70.3) 2021

Please share your BIG goals
Ironman Alaska 2022

Tell me about your successes so far:
After 21 years of racing Triathlons and never being on the podium- this year for the first time with FC, I have podium in my last 4 races.  I won 3rd place in the Fort De Soto International Triathlon, St Petersburg, FL (June 26th). I won 3rd place in my KB Sprint (Aug 22nd). I won 2nd place at KB International (Sept 19th). I earned 1st place at the Miami Man 1/2 Ironman (11/14)

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, Nutrition/Health, please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:
I have improved in my efficiency on the swim.  I’m not out of breath like I used to be in the past races.  Swimming on Fridays with the Team and learning new swim skills has made me more confident in swimming open water. When I bike, I now focus on RPM and heart rate instead of speed.  This RPM training is what got me through the very windy bike ride at the Miami Man 1/2 Ironman.

I attended Erinne’s Running Essentials Clinic in September and I listened to everything she said.  I bought a new pair of running shoes, Altra (zero drop). I started seeing the Physical Therapist Dr. Eric at Athletix, to strengthen my shoulders due to work related posture and to help my neck when I ride my bike in the aerobars.  My neck does not burn as much as it used to.

I started taking the Perfect Essential Amino Acids and Magnesium tablets as part of my pre-workout routine to help with muscle recovery.  I added a little bit of Himalayan pink salt to my water bottles to keep me hydrated throughout the day.  I cleaned up my eating habits by adding sweet potatoes, avocados, boiled eggs, and salmon to my diet especially the days before my races and for my pre-race breakfast.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:
1. Consistency = swimming at least 2 to 3 times a week
2. Having a race and nutrition plan.
3. Working out alongside my teammates has motivated me to push harder.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?
The sense of competition and accomplishment.

What would you say to another person who was on the fence about joining our training program?
Don’t hesitate, jump right in and do it.  I learned to swim as an adult, right before my first triathlon, 21 years ago.  Ever since then I have never looked back, I’m always looking for the next big challenge.

Rockstar Triathlete Beda Molina

Rockstar Triathlete Beda Molina

Coach’s Notes:
You did it again, Beda, way to go! You are the silent, stealth trainer.

I hardly got to train with Beda this year, but every day I checked her training peaks IT was GREEN and it is done!
I love your steady dedication to the sport and your never-ending smile!
You are unstoppable, despite some big setbacks from a broken foot and some emotional rollercoasters just before the race.
You showed that on race day in an Ironman®, you just keep moving forward, positive thoughts and get the job done.  Thank you so much for being such an amazing support to the tribe. Can’t wait for what’s next, after an EPIC 2021!

What is your “A” race for this season?
I had two “A” races this season. IM Augusta 70.3, and IM Florida.

Please share your BIG goals. Tell me about your successes so far:
My big goals are to lower my race times particularly the running portion, since I had been dealing with a foot fracture and hip flexor’s injury, which seriously threatened my running.

What were some of your biggest improvements in performance for the each of the following? Swim, Bike, Run, Nutrition/Health: Please include any Personal Records and Goals achieved:

I have been racing triathlon for 8 years, completed several full Ironman and 70.3 races. I made podium including 1st place, on different Olympic, International and Sprint races, also several half marathons, 10K and 5K races.

Swim: I have been working hard on my swim, and will continue to. My biggest improvement is being able to finish the swim  feeling strong and energetic. Bike: I have been able to maintain a strong pace and still save  my legs for the run, something I didn’t do in the past, when I used to go too fast on the bike. Run: Improve my pose and style and have learned to keep my heart rate low while going at a hard pace. Running is what I have improved the most this year. Nutrition: I have improved my nutrition at home with great results. Full of energy and good health.

Personal records and goals this season; At the IM Augusta race, I was able to place top 10 (7th), with a sub 6 hour finish (5:55). At the IM Florida, I placed 14th, thanks to a strong run after a terrible swim. I was able to focus and push on my run and ended up doing my best time in a full distance triathlon run.
