How Ultimate Tri Camp Helped Fuel Her Triathlon Success – Rockstar Loralee Stephens

Rockstar Triathlete: Loralee Stephens

Coaches Notes:

Loralee signed up for Ultimate Tri Camp two weeks before our start date in February, seeking guidance for her first 70.3 event at Gulf Coast 70.3 in May 2024. It was beautiful to see her in person, as she lived in Kentucky. On the first day of camp, we evaluate all the athletes’ swimming, biking, and running skills, providing technique improvements throughout the week. As a newer triathlete with a goal of 70.3, she had much to learn about training and race logistics. During the six days of camp, she gained valuable fitness and practical race day tips, equipping her to apply her new knowledge to the longer race. After Ultimate Tri Camp, she ended up 1st place at several short course triathlons and a 7:00 first-time 70.3

Congratulations on all your success, Loralee! I can’t wait to see what is next for you.

Why did you choose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?
To get more specific help with run/swim techniques.

What is your “A” race for this season?
Ironman Gulf Coast 70.3. Ultimate Tri Camp gave me tips on how to have a better, more enjoyable race.

Tell me about your successes so far:
I completed the Gulf Coast 70.3 Ironman!

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance at Ultimate Tri Camp?
Swim:
my technique improved
Bike: I feel more confident in a group; I usually ride solo
Run: I am more aware of proper form/techniques
Nutrition/Health: Helped reiterate proper fueling before, during, and after races.
Mindset: knowing nearly all other triathletes have struggled with similar fears & anxiety before and during races.

Did you achieve any Personal Records or Goals?
It’s hard to say since I had no previous Ironman. The goal was to finish, which I did!

Name 2 or 3 things you feel will make the most significant difference in your triathlon performance after participating in Ultimate Tri Camp:
1. Confidence in all portions of the race.

2. Tips/tricks for smoother transition

3. Improved swim technique – not perfect, but it’s improved

What was your favorite part of Ultimate Tri Camp?
I heard stories of other athletes with similar training and race experiences. My area does not have a triathlon community, so it was nice to be around similar-minded people.

What would you say to another person who is on the fence about attending Ultimate Tri Camp?

Take the leap and get out of your comfort zone.

From Swim Essentials to Ultimate Tri Camp – Meet Rockstar Pat Draper

From Swim Essentials to Ultimate Tri Camp – Meet Rockstar Pat Draper

Coaches Notes: Pat reached out a few years ago about her swimming, so she took my swim essentials course, which includes video analysis and swim training to correct your technique. Her swimming started to improve! She then joined my signature Triathlon Transformation program to tackle the big goal of a 70.3 in 2024. We performed all the rest of her evaluations- Swim, Bike, Run, Strength and Mobility, and Nutrition.

Since she lives in Vero Beach, Florida, and we don’t get to train face-to-face very often, I knew Ultimate Tri Camp was the best opportunity for us to train together.

Pat kicked butt at camp! She participated in everything, learning how to unlock chronic hip pain and strengthen her whole body specific to each sport.
She enjoyed the guest speakers, meditation and Kihara and Eldoa – Longitudinal Osteo-Articular Decoaptation Stretching, is a revolutionary technique created by World renowned Osteopath Dr. Guy Voyer.

She got stronger on the swim, bike, and run day by day! She did her 1st Sprint Triathlon this past weekend after a 5-year break! So proud of you, Pat. You truly are a Rockstar Triathlete. I’m super excited you already signed up for UTC 2025!

Will you be joining her? We are extending our post-camp sale until the end of April. Don’t miss out on the 30% savings!

Age: 68

Profession: Semi-retired nurse-practitioner.

Why did you choose UTC?
Because of the coach, Erinne Guthrie. I have worked with Erinne a few times in the past and knew right away she was not only expert in all things related to triathlon, but she could help me fix my swim. And, boy, did it need fixing. I’m not where I want to be, but my mindset is changing now; I look forward to swimming rather than dreading it. Back when I was competing regularly, I had qualified for Nationals twice. Now, I’m anxious to see what I can do this year, after a five-year hiatus.

Big goals accomplished?
UTC helped me realize I could run again. I am slow but my goals now are different than when I started competing in 2012. I am focusing on form and most of the time, trying to do what the coaches recommend.

Successes?
Doing an open water swim again and feeling like I’m in charge of my breathing, instead of the other way around. And, running a sub-12 minute mile at camp. Meant a lot after not running continuously for five years.
Swim: Now able to average 2:49/100 m, open water
Run: Switching to minimalist shoes was a game-changer. Hip pain I’ve struggled with for years is almost gone.
Bike: Not monitoring power yet, but averaging better than 17 mph.
Nutrition: Being gently reminded of the toxicity of processed foods along with the necessity of magnesium supplements.

Biggest Personal Goal?
Knowing I could do it. I had my doubts but now I am totally psyched!

Things that will make a difference after camp:
1. Minimalist shoes
2. Foam roller and a stretching and strength routine.
3. Breath work and warmup before swimming

Favorite part? Getting to know others who are passionate about the triathlon life.

What would I say to others who are on the fence about going?
Just do it. You won’t regret it for one minute.

From Being Hit by a Car to Starting his Triathlon Journey: Meet UTC Rockstar Mark Testoni

Rockstar Triathlete: Mark Testoni

Coaches Notes:

Mark and I met a year ago and almost started coaching when he was hit by a car on his bike. We had to postpone training until he recovered, and camp was the perfect kickstart to his training program. He could swim, bike, and run again, so I invited him to join us.

Since we have three different coaching levels at Ultimate Tri Camp, he started on day one in the C group and had enough fitness to enter the B group on day 2.

I’m super proud of Mark for putting aside his hesitation at being a newbie and simply embracing his own process and learning each day.

His progress has been impressive, and I’m super excited about his 2024 Tri Season. We will start with a few sprints, move to International Distance, and end the year with a 70.3.

Let’s Do this, Mark! You are a Rockstar Ultimate Tri Camper!

Age: 68

Profession: I am a semi-retired military and tech industry executive. I am currently Chairman of cBEYONData, a software and tech services firm.

Why did you choose Ultimate Tri Camp for help in your triathlon journey?
As an older athlete new to the sport, I wanted to learn and hear the experiences of others in the sport. I am pretty much a novice, but I have experience as a modestly successful distance runner from many years ago.
Avid Peloton rider in recent years. Nowhere near a lap pool in 50 years.

Coach Erinne articulated how the camp could help—and it did!

Please share your BIG goals and how Ultimate Tri Camp supported you:

1. Understand how to approach training and recovery. Discussions and listening to the experiences of athletes and coaches are all amazingly helpful.

2. Become an effective swimmer at a distance. I arrived at camp with the ability of your average rock—floating was a challenge 😂 . I learned a number of swim drills. I watched and was very much inspired by the rest of the group and their great abilities. I am very motivated to improve—I will soon.

3. Want to complete a 70.3 when ready—so inspired beyond watching and listening to everyone at camp. I’m a determined person, and everyone was so encouraging—I have no doubt I will get there.

Tell me about your successes so far:

I spent my past year recovering from a cycling accident and some secondary physical challenges. Camp timing was perfect as I am starting to ramp up.

1. More confident in the water.

2. Improved running and biking technique.

3. Signed up with FCC for the complete Triathlon Transformation training program!

What were some of your most considerable Improvements in performance at Ultimate Tri Camp?

Swim: Arrived: swimming like a ‘listing ship.’ Departed: drilling properly and more focused.
Bike: Better technique with riding in groups and climbing
Run: Improved body and arm position
Nutrition/Health: Comprehend the purpose of supplements and their use.
Mindset: inspired and highly motivated.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the most significant difference in your triathlon performance after participating in Ultimate Tri Camp:

1. Inspiration—from the athletes and coaches. Each gave me ideas, lessons, and shared experiences that genuinely moved and motivated me—even more than I could have ever expected.

2. Network—knowing so many others with FCC is a resource, help, and encouragement.

3. Knowledge—learned so much.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?
It’s the ultimate sport, where you work and compete primarily against yourself to achieve goals, yet collaborate with coaches and other athletes to pursue goals. It transcends specific abilities and drives focus, preparation, and determination. I am very excited to drive toward objectives in parallel with a great team.

What was your favorite part of Ultimate Tri Camp?

I’d be lying if I said it was the ‘ice plunge’ 🧊 😂. The people and camaraderie were second to none. I’ve used the word ‘inspired’ a ton at camp and after. I owe so much to everyone who attended; it boosted my journey.

What would you say to someone on the fence about attending Ultimate Tri Camp?
Go! It’s a safe environment for interested athletes at any level or point in their journey.

Are you coming back next year?
Absolutely

Even Coaches Can Benefit from UTC! – Heather’s Rockstar Story

Rockstar Triathlete: Heather Shrouds

Coaches Notes: Heather reached out in January, excited to be able to get such a great discount on Ultimate Tri Camp as a USAT certified USAT Coach, earn her CEUs, AND learn the “behind the scenes ” about how I coach my athletes and the Full Circle Coaching Methodology.

I love being able to support USA Triathlon coaches in the application of their knowledge.

There are many different coaching styles, but with my 27 years of experience coaching thousands of triathletes and hosting over 20 triathlon camps, I believe that including training in more than just swimming, biking, and running is imperative to keeping a triathlete doing the sport they love for a lifetime.

At Camp, Heather saw firsthand how to coach the campers on the importance of technique in the swim, bike and running can prevent injuries from overusing the repetitive motion of a triathlon with the use of video analysis and metabolic field testing. Learning breath work, Kihara stretching, Eldoa spine strength, foot strength, and so much more can impact her triathlon performance and help her coach the athletes she is coaching.

Thanks, Heather, for coming in with an open mind and participating fully at Ultimate Tri Camp. You have so many new tools to implement into your coaching practice! You are a true Rockstar Coach/ and Camper!

Age: 48

Profession: Personal Trainer and Triathlon Coach

Why did you choose Ultimate Tri Camp for help in your triathlon journey?
I was at this triathlon camp to earn my CECs for my USAT Certification and improve my form in my swim and run. I knew something was off, but I was still determining what to expect. This was my first triathlon camp ever!

Please share your BIG goals and how Ultimate Tri Camp supported you:
My big goals are to swim 750m under 15 minutes, bike 20+mph, and run a 20-minute 5k
I started my weight loss journey in the fall of 2009. I have lost 100 lbs so far. I fell in love with Triathlon after my first swim, even though I was terrified of the open water. Triathlon and Duathlon Worlds and I have qualified for and competed in Age Group Nationals.

Tell me about your successes so far:

Swim – being more efficient and converting to breathing every 2 strokes instead of 3
Bike – getting my love back for riding outside.  I had been riding on the trainer a lot because of life schedule.   Riding in Clermont during Ultimate Tri Camp was beautiful, and riding in traffic was challenging, but I overcame my fear with the group’s safety.
Run – seeing my form on video during the video analysis and the corrections we made.

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance at Ultimate Tri Camp?
I learned even more about my gut health. I love the ELDOA, meditation, and yoga. Honestly, it all was excellent.
1) Getting my love back for riding outside
2) Recovery strategies
3) The Magnesium cream and Perfect Aminos are a game changer

What was your favorite part of Ultimate Tri Camp?
The camaraderie and the edge of competing with everyone—all of it, honestly. If I had to pick the ELDOAs, I have never done them before, but they’re a game changer for sure.

Are you coming back next year?
Yes, I plan on it!

Ultimate Tri Camp Rockstar Dean Kennedy

Ultimate Tri Camp Rockstar Dean Kennedy

Coach Notes:

Dean came to camp with an open mind and heart. We met on Facebook, and he and his partner Kathy decided to join us. They are both veteran triathletes, and I genuinely appreciate their curiosity, and the results for Dean speak for themselves.

Dean’s improvement day after day was inspiring to see. Participating in the training and all the recovery sessions we do at camp is essential to leaving camp feeling great! Check out all his great feedback and successes below. Way to show up for yourself, Dean! The results on race day will be there!

Age:

53

Profession:

VP of Plastic Injection Tooling

Why did you choose Ultimate Tri Camp for help in your journey as a triathlete?

I had come across Full Circle on FB over a year ago and loved Coach Erinne’s ideology and approach to training. After speaking with her and listening to some of her videos, I signed up for camp with my partner Kathy.

Please share your BIG goals and how Ultimate Tri Camp supported you:

Goal #1 was to learn how to swim. In the past few years, I’ve spent lots of money and time on private lessons and frustrations in the pool and open water, all to little avail.

I got just enough to push through my two full Ironman races.

UTC was nothing short of transformative for me!

There was so much comprehensive instruction, drills, video analysis, and proper technique/mechanics teaching that it nearly made my head pop.

It was almost too much to take in all in one day, but the lessons and Coach’s voice are etched into my mind so that I can now work with everything I learned. Coach Erinne also took extra time after the group lesson to give me 10-15 minutes of personal coaching, which I learned more than in months of prior lessons.

At the OWS, I took my first successful breaths to the left side, which was like a miracle! I’m so proud and grateful for this seemingly small detail, so I chose this picture. I know now that I AM a swimmer and will only continue to improve from here. Who knew?!! 🙌🏼

Tell me about your successes so far:

Going from not owning a bike or knowing how to swim (as of Fall 2018) to completing two 70.3 and two 140.6 Ironman races by 2022.

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance at Ultimate Tri Camp?

Swim: EVERYTHING- Left side breathing, balance, feeling the water, relaxing, rotation, etc., etc.
Bike: maintaining low heart rate on climbs
Run: proper cadence and arm position
Nutrition/Health: reinforcing what Kathy has already instilled in me: eat real, nutrient-dense foods, healthy fats, remove inflammatory foods, and nothing processed.
Mindset: I AM A SWIMMER (did I say this already?!)

Did you achieve any Personal Records or Goals?

Did I already mention left-side breathing?! 😂

Name 2 or 3 things you feel will make the biggest difference in your triathlon performance after participating in Ultimate Tri Camp:

  1. Proper swimming techniques
  2. Triathlon-specific strength training
  3. Mobility exercises

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

The challenge to push my limits and “dare to fail greatly.” Also, the sport’s camaraderie and “pageantry” (who doesn’t like their bike gear and kit!)

What was your favorite part of Ultimate Tri Camp?

The incredible depth/breadth of the holistic training. It was truly the yin & yang, just like the Full Circle logo represents!

What would you say to someone on the fence about attending Ultimate Tri Camp?

Straddling a fence is painful! Get your ass to UTC, and you’ll never regret it.

Sexy in Spandex, Ultimate Tri Camp Rockstar Triathlete: John Dodds

Sexy in Spandex, Ultimate Tri Camp Rockstar Triathlete: John Dodds

Coach Notes:

John loves the triathlon lifestyle and exemplifies someone committed to the long term. Just as with any athlete in any sport, there is always something to improve upon, and I am so proud of how John has kept triathlon in his life even as he overcame prostate cancer and fear in the open water. We were with him every step of the way. So proud of you, John; let’s keep the momentum going. See you soon at the Ride on Ryan Triathlon!

Age:

60 this year!

Profession:

Director of Information Technology Quality

Why did you choose Ultimate Tri Camp for help in your triathlon journey?

In 2017 I saw a triathlon on TV and thought, I want to do this. A month before my 1st race, I participated in a one-day camp in Savannah with Coach Erinne from Full Circle Coaching, which was eye-opening.

At my race a few weeks later (at the Ride On Ryan Triathlon), an 80-year-old woman beat me silly at the finish line. I then decided Full Circle Coaching would be my coach.

Full Circle made me realize that Triathlon is a sport and a lifestyle.

It’s more than swimming, biking, or running: it’s mind, it’s spirit, it’s grit, it’s heart, and nutrition, it’s what you put in is what you get out.

Full Circle coaching is a full-spectrum, holistic mindfulness program.

And they’ll make you “Sexy in Spandex.”

Please share your BIG goals and how Ultimate Tri Camp supported you:

This year will be my 5th year at camp, and every year brings a new awareness. This year was big in swimming challenge awareness. I always wonder why I could swim 2000 meters in a pool and feel I had a great workout.

But swim 50 yards in a lake only to find myself floating, gasping for air, wondering where the buoy was. I realized this year, I never knew how to sight swim. Every time I lifted my head, my legs sank, and my body stopped like a bobber, then I power swam to get going again.

So, learning to relax in the water was my big takeaway. Camp addresses every conceivable concept and potential challenge.

Tell me about your successes so far:

Where do I start? From childhood to 53, I was an average joe who did not do sports. No run, bike, or swim, more like walk, joy ride, and wade on occasion.

From 54 through today, the last 6yrs??? I’ve raced about 24 triathlons and 18 5K/10K/Bridge runs, and have enjoyed training multi-thousands of miles of running, biking, swimming, and unicycling.

And let’s not forget survived and kicked prostate cancer!

Full Circle and the Ultimate Tri Camp… Bring it on!! I’m ready for their assistance with my next big triathlon goals!

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance at Ultimate Tri Camp?

Swim: Technique and sighting
Bike: Heels down to utilize power; changing gears is my friend, and keep pedaling, limit coasting
Run: Lean forward and move the elbows
Nutrition/Health: If I eat healthy, the right foods, my mind, energy, and focus will always be there for me
Mindset: If I put my mind to it, grit it through, and be open to the experience, I am guaranteed to be smiling at the finish line. Have you ever seen a finisher of a race not smiling??? I bet you have not 😊

Did you achieve any Personal Records or Goals?

Every year with FullCircle and participating in Camp, I have achieved PRs. And every year, my PRs are different but so very satisfying.

Name 2 or 3 things you feel will make the biggest difference in your triathlon performance after participating in Ultimate Tri Camp:

  1. Motivation, Intensity
  2. Commitment, Focus, and knowing my “pain point” in my training
  3. Resetting my desire, goals, and expectations for the rest of the year

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

It’s multi-focal, I’m never bored, and it’s always active even while just breathing meditation/intention. And it makes me feel fantastic; It makes me look Hot and Sexy. In the end? It makes me happy being me 😊

What was your favorite part of Ultimate Tri Camp?

Hard to say, but I can tell you the worst part is saying goodbye and going home. Because every moment was an experience I cherish, even when I found myself sitting in my own “shit.”

I learned, I absorbed, I connected, and I experienced!

What would you say to someone on the fence about attending Ultimate Tri Camp?

When was there a time when you got 360-degree support and assistance with triathlon training? When have you had a group of people wanting you to personally succeed as much as you do for yourself? When have you taken the opportunity to learn, educate, absorb, avoid pitfalls, and identify success in action? If you haven’t, join us at camp; it will change your life!

Are you coming back next year?

Already registered, so absolutely!

Want to join us at ULTIMATE TRI CAMP 2024?

Camp is right around the corner – February 26 – March 3rd.

But There’s still time! Sign up here!

Rockstar Runner: Dylan Boone

Rockstar Runner: Dylan Boone

Coach Notes:

I was psyched when Dylan said he wanted to train for the Miami 13.1. We met at Athletix rehab because that is our partner for all our physical therapy with our athletes.

As more of a strength athlete, he did not know what he did not know about HOW to run properly and efficiently for endurance.

We immediately started with his run video analysis, evaluation, and the 1-mile run test since he already had so much fitness.

He hit all his training and had to work on less ground reaction time and cadence with the run drills at the track workouts and we needed to add a lot more nutrition to hit all his long runs!

Congratulations, Dylan- You are a Rockstar Runner, and your results speak for themselves!

I await the call when you decide to join my triathlon program! Let’s do it! 😉

Dylan’s Results: 1-mile test from 6:54 to 5:55 and his first 13.1 in 1:49!

Age: 27

Profession: Physical Therapist at Athletix Rehab

Why you chose FCC to help you on your triathlon/health and wellness journey?
I needed guidance on the proper way to train for endurance.

My background is in sports performance training for anaerobic sports, so I needed a coach who was educated in aerobic training and cardiovascular adaptations. I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Erinne at Athletix and decided to choose her as my coach.

What is your “A” race for this season?
Currently undecided on a race for this year, but I completed my first Miami Half Marathon this past January 2023 and will make it an annual race.

Please share your BIG goals:
I would love to get involved in triathlon training this year. Completing a Sprint Triathlon or Olympic Triathlon is a possibility for me.

Tell me about your successes so far:
Completing my first Miami Half Marathon in 1:49 and the Miami Runway 5K in 23:21.

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance in your running?
Each week was an improvement while I was training for the half marathon. My metrics improved every month. I significantly improved my mile test time in my 4 month training program.

I started at a 6:54/1-mile test and achieved a 5:55/ 1-mile test just before the half marathon.

I used to suffer from a runner’s knee, but with Erinne’s coaching on my running form, technique, and my physical therapy background, I got rid of all those symptoms and am running pain-free.

Name 2 or 3 things that have made the biggest difference in your journey:
1. Coaching: I believe there is no way to train for these races without a coach by your side. I would not have been able to determine my levels of progression, when to increase or decrease intensity, or monitor how my body was feeling without Erinne’s guidance throughout this process.

2. Community: Having a group of people to train with is very important. The FullCircle team is very welcoming, and I enjoyed my workouts with them. There is also a big running community in Miami. I was able to meet and train with many new people I have been able to build relationships with. Having people to run with is always nice, especially when motivation is lacking a little bit.

What excites you the most about being involved in running/ triathlon?
The potential for growth and pushing my body to new limits.

What would you say to someone on the fence about joining our training program?

You can try it to see if you like it. If you do, you can continue. If you don’t like it, it’s not for everyone, but at least you tried. I never thought I would run a half marathon, but I am glad I did and want to do it again!

Triathlon Transformation & Ultimate Tri Camp Rockstar Triathlete: Richie Ganitsky

Triathlon Transformation /Ultimate Tri Camp Rockstar Triathlete: Richie Ganitsky

Coach Notes:

Richie joined me during Bring a Buddy week in December, then decided to become a member of my 16-week Triathlon Transformation program and also jumped into my all-inclusive Ultimate Tri Camp experience. This is his combination feedback of everything he has done with Full Circle Coaching over the last 4 months.

I want to congratulate you, Richie, on going all in because you have truly transformed in every aspect of your triathlon Life.

From improving your swim technique, overcoming fear on the bike, being comfortable in group rides, tackling the hills of Clermont, Florida at Camp, and getting close to your record for your 13.1 from 10 years ago, and so much more! You know how to dig in and achieve new heights in your performance

I am proud of your achievements and cannot wait to see what’s next for you. Thanks for choosing Full Circle Coaching for your Triathlon Journey. You are a true Rockstar Triathlete!

Age: 46

Profession: Attorney

Why did you choose to Join Full Circle Coaching?

After about three years of running just marathons, I wanted to improve my fitness, and my running coach had mentioned triathletes made the best improvements in speed.  In the back of my mind, I knew this was true since the best shape I had ever been in was when I had trained for triathlons prior to focusing only on running.

I knew of Coach Erinne from the Integrity Multisport race clinics.  Then I attended the Bring a Buddy Week trial period; Coach Erinne, Coach Ollie, and the athletes were very welcoming, so I joined the group.

Over the past four months, I have made big improvements.

Swimming – I’ve improved my technique and swam much more in the ocean, which led to very good results at the Swim Miami mile in 33:20!

On the Bike– Coach Erinne and Coach Dennis helped me overcome my fear of downhills by riding the hills of Clermont at Ultimate Triathlon Camp!

And on the Run– I just raced the Mesa, Arizona half marathon in 1:47, a time I hadn’t achieved in almost ten years!

I’ve also gotten stronger by eating more protein and supplementing with weight training and yoga!

Also, training with Full Circle Coaching has motivated me to work out early in the mornings, which is an excellent start to my day!

Why did you choose to attend the Ultimate Tri Camp for help in your triathlon journey?

A week devoted to training at Clermont would be great! Also, I liked UTC’s emphasis on not just swimming, biking, and running sessions but also included holistic nutrition, yoga, and motivational speakers.

Please share your BIG goals and how Ultimate Tri Camp supported you:

My big goal was to enjoy a great week of fitness.

Getting lots of technique tips from the coaches: like riding with Coach Erinne on the hills of Clermont, finding motivation from the other athletes and speakers, having daily yoga or meditation classes, massages every other day, healthy breakfasts, lunches, smoothies, and juices all delivered was great!

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance at Ultimate Tri Camp?

Swim: With the improved technique, I feel less tired after swimming long distances.
Bike: I started at the back of the pack on our first rides, and by the last part of our last ride, I was almost at the front of our “Cool Group.”
Run: Running the clay trail with a Boston qualifier was fun learning about his experience.
Nutrition/Health: Adding more protein to my diet has helped me to feel stronger and recover more quickly.
Mindset: Improved positive thinking with mantras like “I can do anything” and “I get to do something challenging;” it is a privilege!

Did you achieve any Personal Records or Goals? I achieved my goal of having a great time gaining fitness.

Name 2 or 3 things you feel will make the biggest difference in your triathlon performance after participating in Ultimate Tri Camp:

  1. Replicating the increased fitness gained at UTC with my daily training in Miami.
  2. Getting to train throughout the season with the coaches and other athletes of Full Circle who also participated in UTC.
  3. The most unique triathlon part of UTC is the hilly bike terrain at Clermont, and having trained there is already making a positive difference in my riding in Miami.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

I feel even leaner and stronger cross-training than mostly just running, which I’d been doing for several years.

What was your favorite part of Ultimate Tri Camp?

The ice bath after climbing Sugar Loaf. I’d never tried an ice bath before, and despite the initial cold, my muscles were relaxed and renewed afterward.

What would you say to someone on the fence about attending Ultimate Tri Camp?

Learning about the other parts of swimming/biking/running, nutrition, strength, stretch training, and mindset is not to be overlooked, and you’ll get it all at UTC.

Are you coming back next year? Definitely! Already reserved my spot!

3rd Place 70.3 Podium After Ultimate Tri Camp Rockstar Triathlete: Cheryl Willberg

3rd Place 70.3 Podium After Ultimate Tri Camp Rockstar Triathlete: Cheryl Willberg

Coach Notes: I was thrilled when Cheryl signed up for camp, knowing it would complement her plan to get on the podium at 70.3 Panama the week after.

Camp is great for triathletes who live up north and can’t get outside to train before race day. She showed up never having been evaluated in person with her coach- so we were able to get her video evaluations and give immediate feedback to improve her technique just in time for race day!

I love how hard she pushes, but at camp, she could tap into the recovery, stretching, and mindset needed to balance all that hard work and see the ultimate results on race day! Congratulations Cheryl! You are truly a BADASS Rockstar Camper!

Age: 37

Profession: I own a PR + Marketing firm and host fitness and wellness events.

Why did you choose Ultimate Tri Camp for help in your journey as a triathlete?

I heard about the Camp from a great friend who said great things about Erinne and the other coaches. My 70.3 race was coming up, and getting on my bike outside beforehand would be a great opportunity. I have been training in the Great White North (Toronto!), which sealed the deal!

Please share your BIG goals and how Ultimate Tri Camp supported you:

My big goal for Q1 was to come in the top 5 at IronMan Panama 70.3 (pushing for a 5:10 time on the course!), as well as to take the time to learn more about swim mechanics to make me more comfortable and, overall, a better swimmer. Lots more goals for the season!

Tell me about your successes so far:

I just got back from Panama with a brand-new 3rd place trophy and a 20-minute PB! I completed the race in 5 hours and 1 minute. My swim and mindset were two noteworthy successes from the race right after UTC.

My swim was fast and effortless. I could feel my catch and finish and spend more time with my face in the water. Who would have thought that one goggle in the water at all times would naturally make you faster, just given your body placement?

The second success of this past race was my mindset, which is always the most important thing. I visualized this race from start to finish and crushed my goal because I believed I could!

What were some of your biggest Improvements in performance at Ultimate Tri Camp?

Swim: My swim is 100%. I really connected with the way coach Erinne and Ollie explained things.

I think sometimes coaching can be quite subjective, but I am able to continue working on the things we did during camp because it was easy to understand. This makes a big difference!

Bike: I loved being able to ride with Coach Dennis before my race. He was always positive and pushed me the right amount. At the end of my 90K in the race -before my run (which I needed to do well on!), he told me to pull back on resistance and spin out my legs to get them ready to ROTB. I did just that; my legs felt fresh, and I had the run I wanted.

Did you achieve any Personal Records or Goals? Name 2 or 3 things you feel will make the biggest difference in your triathlon performance after participating in Ultimate Tri Camp:

  1. I’m looking forward to a season filled with epic swim times!
  2. I have some lofty bike goals and will have Coach Dennis in my head as I take on many races this year.

What excites you the most about being involved in triathlon?

The mindset and community. Over and above being a triathlete, I am a Life Athlete. I ALWAYS give my personal 100, and I see the benefits on and off the course. Given there is always so much to learn in the sport – I see a long journey filled with physical and mental successes. And the community! It’s amazing to spend time with others cheering themselves and you on.

It’s a sport filled with smiles, motivation, and epic challenges.

What was your favorite part of Ultimate Tri Camp?

The training and connecting with the athletes. There was a diverse group of people, and I truly enjoyed meeting them all. I can’t wait to hear about more team and personal wins. It’s only been a few weeks, and I’m motivated from afar. Anne’s fastest 5KM and a team filled with great times at Clash. Way to go, FC!

What would you say to someone on the fence about attending Ultimate Tri Camp?

DO IT! You’ll have an awesome week of great training, and coaching, make new friends, and walk away with lessons that will last a lifetime.

Whether alone or with someone – it’s a great opportunity to get started in the sport or learn how to better one or all aspects.

Coach Notes: John loves the triathlon lifestyle and exemplifies someone committed to the long term.

Age: 60 this year!

Profession: Director of Information Technology Quality
